Set in the bustling Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood on Manhattan’s West Side, the 555TEN building is in perfect proximity to some of New York’s best shopping, restaurants, and cultural hubs. Residents don’t have to leave home, however, to enjoy some of the city’s best amenities, including on-site outdoor spaces. ORE collaborated with Terrain-NYC to make the most of shared garden areas at 555TEN, creating planter systems for amenity decks on two levels of the 56-story tower.
Large columns are a major feature of the building’s architecture. Successfully maintaining separation of the planting soil and the building columns required precise field verifications to ensure an accurate fit. We also incorporated inner planter electrical and irrigation routing sleeves for automated irrigation, as well as an integrated lighting system.
In addition to the columns, we created planting beds that vary in depth, ranging from on-grade to more raised levels for a rolling, natural effect that introduces an inviting softness to the urban environment.
